On July 15th, DSM Semichem, a joint venture in which Samsung C&T Trading & Investment Group (hereinafter “Samsung C&T”) participates, held a ceremony to celebrate the successful construction of an electronic-grade sulfuric acid manufacturing facility in Plainview, Texas.

As a joint venture of three companies including Samsung C&T, Dongjin Semichem and Martin Midstream, DSM Semichem was established in September 2022 to meet the rising demand of semiconductor materials in the wake of U.S. chip production ramp-up. Samsung C&T is responsible for client development, sales and marketing, while Dongjin Semichem is in charge of production and facility operations. Martin Midstream's role is to provide raw materials and assets required for the business.

The manufacturing facility in Plainview, which is set to begin production from August 2024, is capable of producing 24,000 tons of sulfuric acid per year.

On the 15th, Samsung C&T CEO Jae Eon Lee, Vice Chairman Joon Hyuk Lee of Dongjin Semichem, and Martin Midstream CEO Ruben S. Martin III participated in the ceremony. Also, the event was attended by other local stakeholders including council members, county judges, and the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Consortium Executive Committee, etc.

Harnessing its technical prowess and reliable quality assurance, DSM Semichem is anticipated to foster advanced chip making and ensure the stability of the supply chain in the U.S. semiconductor industry.

Meanwhile, Samsung C&T is actively leading the trading of various industrial materials and chemical products, including materials essential for chip manufacturing, with the aim of achieving growth in the trading of key industrial materials and eco-friendly business development.
