- Reinforcing eco-friendly shipping capability with KSS LINE LTD., the only ammonia shipping company in Korea

The Trading and Investment Group(“T&I Group) of Samsung C&T signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KSS LINE LTD. for the Eco-friendly Marine Transport Business to Carry Clean Hydrogen and Ammonia on November 10.

The agreement is for successful maritime transportation as an important step in the clean ammonia-based hydrogen value chain. The two companies agreed to cooperate in securing logistics competitiveness by making joint efforts to △secure clean hydrogen and ammonia carriers and eco-friendly fuel propulsion ships and △seek optimal ways of transporting clean hydrogen and ammonia by sea.

While the demand for clean ammonia, which is used as an eco-friendly energy carrier, is expected to continue to increase, the two companies plan to continue improving the stability and efficiency of intercontinental maritime transportation by signing the MOU.

The T&I Group of Samsung C&T is building the entire supply chain from developing overseas clean hydrogen production projects to connecting them to domestic customers based on its global network, trading, and domestic and overseas business development capabilities as a trading company. It plans to lay the foundation for freight volume to secure clean hydrogen/ammonia carriers and eco-friendly fuel propulsion ships.

As the largest gas shipping company and the only ammonia carrier operator in Korea, KSS LINE LTD.has decided to cooperate in securing optimal clean hydrogen/ammonia carrier and eco-friendly fuel propulsion ships by actively utilizing the know-how and expertise it has accumulated over the years.

Meanwhile, The T&I Group of Samsung C&T is strengthening its eco-friendly business portfolio such as hydrogen, solar power, and secondary battery material supply and continuing its efforts to identify new growth engines in promising fields. In the future, the company plans to expand cooperation with various competent partners and seek out new businesses actively to enhance its social contribution and lay the foundation for growth.
