Samsung C&T conducted the field experience program “Junior Samsung C&T Academy” on a total of three occasions from Nov. 12 to Nov. 18 at the workplace of each business group of the company: Raemian Gallery of the Engineering and Construction Group, head office building of the Trading and Investment Group and Fashion Group, and Service Academy of the Resort Group.
As a representative social contribution program of Samsung C&T, the Junior Samsung C&T Academy was developed for the purpose of providing future generations with the opportunity to experience jobs and develop their career drawing on various businesses of Samsung C&T, in connection with the free semester system of middle schools.
In line with the free semester system’s goal of fulfilling the dreams and fostering the talents of teenagers, the program is composed of a “project-based maker education” wherein students can make products based on their own ideas instead of one-way lectures.
Following the pilot project implemented last year, the main program has been operated this year for students of middle schools located in mountain, agricultural and fishing communities that have been selected through a public contest. This semester, a total of 380 students from 10 schools across the nation are participating in the program.
The students participated in the quiz about occupation, production of architectural models, trading games and VR conducted in the workplaces of the Engineering and Construction Group, Trading and Investment Group, Fashion Group, and Resort Group.
In particular, more than 30 executives and staff of Samsung C&T participated in the experience program as advisers to help students’ understanding of the occupation.
Samsung C&T plans to implement more programs in addition to the Junior Samsung C&T Academy to help future generations both at home and abroad lead better lives by developing their potential in a much better environment.
