Recognized for successful execution of the Ontario Project, the largest RE project in North America
On November 10, 2016, Vice President Seung-gul Lee of the Samsung C&T Corporation Trading & Investment Group was selected as the winner of the Industrial Award at the ceremony for the 2016 Korea Renewable Energy Awards sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy and hosted by the Korea Energy Agency.
VP Lee was selected as the recipient of the award in recognition of successfully executing the Samsung C&T Corporation Trading & Investment Group’s 1,369MW renewable energy project in Ontario, Canada. Upon commencement of the Ontario Project, Mr. Lee was stationed to Ontario, where he has overseen the execution of the entire process of the project from business development to financing and construction/operation.
The Ontario Project is the largest renewable energy project in North America, initiated in 2009 following a proposal by Samsung C&T to the Ontario government to develop a massive renewable energy complex in the Canadian Province.
Meanwhile, the Korea Renewable Energy Awards, currently in their 10th year, are a set of awards presented annually to individuals who have contributed to industrial development. Awardees are selected by the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy and the Korea Energy Agency, and this year, a total of 25 individuals including VP Lee were selected as recipients.
